Plan a Visit
In the Spirit of Jesus Christ, we welcome you to Lakewood Presbyterian Church!
Ours is a warm congregation of Christian disciples located in the heart of East Dallas. We are a loving, Bible-believing, worship-oriented, historic Reformed Protestant church.
Our membership is made up of Christians from all ages. Some of them live near the church, some live quite far away, but they opt to make the drive because there’s something unique about Lakewood. Don’t be surprised when one of our members reaches out to greet you either before or after the service; it’s pretty much guaranteed to happen. We’re thankful you’re here!
We are truly a multigenerational church – we even claim a few families with three generations of members who faithfully attend every week. To us, this is a testimony to the Lord’s covenant faithfulness “to a thousand generations” (Deut. 7:9). God has blessed us with many (many!) young children, and you will definitely see and hear their joyful noises when you visit.
Our worship is traditional and congregational. We sing loudly and joyfully out of The Trinity Hymnal and The Lakewood Psalter (Psalms from the Bible set to music). You may wonder why so many young people are interested in attending a church where there are no guitars, drums, or lighting effects – it’s because there’s something grounded, substantive, and counter-cultural about embracing tradition. “Ask for the old paths; where the good way is, and walk in it – then you will find rest for your souls” (Jer. 6:16).
Although many of our families enjoy having their young children in the worship service, we also offer childcare for young children. All of our nursery, childcare, and children’s Sunday School workers have been screened and trained by MinistrySafe.
We have Sunday School for adults and children, which starts at 9am. Our Worship Service begins at 10am and typically lasts about 75-90 minutes. We observe the Lord’s Supper every week, and have a Fellowship Feast (potluck) once a month, following the service, on the last Sunday of the month.
In historic Reformed fashion, we also have an evening service on Sunday evenings at 5pm, with a distinctive order of Worship.
Our members and visitors typically dress in a range of attire. Most of us dress comfortably.
The Main Entrance is on the north side of the building, under the port-a-cochere where the steeple is. Parking is all around the building.
